You are not alone
First of all, every movie is collaborative effort.
The screenwriter writes the basic story line and brings it to the producer. Producer tears off the core of the story, wishes to emphasize some marginal detail he’s focused on, so the screenwriter must painfully tie all the loose ends together and the result is not as much satisfactory for him as the first draft was. But that’s life.
Then comes the director’s turn. He takes the finished screenplay and does artistic projection of the story into reality (he says) or deliberately screws the story due to personal hate (screenwriter says).
Now the actors and cameraman come. They also have their own view of the story, the characters. Their intentions and acting skills (of lack of the aforementioned) also influence the final result.
Next in line is editor. On the verge of madness from some ten hours of raw, poorly indexed material, which only very loosely resembles the original script. So he is here to use all his skill and raw computing power to make some movie, without too much obvious discrepancies. Being former editor myself I can tell that fortunately, you can get away with nearly anything. I once from sheer necessity used the same shot twice in the same movie, once mirrored, slowed-down and digitally zoomed and nobody noticed :-)
Then the music arrives. Especially when you have original composed score for a movie, the music can change the mood and final feeling more than it seems.
And now you have the result of collective effort and likewise collective frustration. We tried to capture the feeling a little in several movies for you:

Be careful what you wish for
Usually you can project your preferences into the final movie somehow. And here comes the second problem. Wanna get rid of your perversions? Make them your full-time job. Ever wanted to have enough of nice big pictures to enjoy them? How about several thousands of them, in raw camera resolution, taking impressive stack of DVDs when burned, and when you’re required to sort them?
And there is one further potential problem: you can become prisoner of your dreams. Shoot the same scenes and movies repeatedly and start to be boring. Shooting something else than your customers want to see (and what they’re willing to pay for).
